Learn to Greek Dance - OPA !

The St. Barbara community has a lively Greek folk dancing program. Membership has varied in age and numbers over the years. Today, our dancers are young and enthusiastic. You may have seen our dancers perform at our annual Greek Festival, held at East Chapel Hill High School, or at a "Taste-of-Greece" event - lots of fun for both participants and audiences.

Our goals are basic. The first is for everyone to have fun and learn to dance, while enjoying traditional Greek music. The second is to provide our young children the opportunity to form a dance troupe and to participate at various events. The third is to learn more about the history of each dance and the region from which it comes.

Lessons and practices are held each Sunday after Church School. All students who attend Saint Barbara Sunday School, who are active in one of the youth ministries (GOYA, HOPE, JOY) and/or serve in the Altar are eligible to participate in the Saint Barbara Folk Dance Group.
